Glen found these antique white glass shades on San Juan Island and added vintage fixtures and a khaki-colored twisted wire.

These industrial pendants are so cute and under $70 each.

This was an Industrial iron cage, never for the birds!

And this newer one with bubbled glass has a sort of nautical look.

All of these are up and available at Camas Antiques.

Chandeliers anyone?

We attended "dealer night", (which was also open to the publicthis time), and had a great time redoing our booth and talking with both customers and other dealers as we negotiated the crowded aisles and rubber-necked as people brought new items in!

All the spots are full of new stuff and there's something there I'm sure you need!

Wandered into a new (to me) thrift shop and fell in love with this 5' x 5' cabinet with metal and glass French-style casement doors! OOO-La-la

Got a GREAT price on it and a fabulous mirror (pics coming soon) and we had it on top of my old buffet in no time!

I had to promise NO MORE LARGE PIECES unless we're planning to sell them! I would have put it at our spot at Monticello but it's a reproduction (sigh), so I had to keep it. Darn!

Inspired by Spring cleaning and new decor books on simplifying, I cleared out my craft room, Glen painted the walls (they looked like a pincushion) a custom color, (a lighter version of an accident we call "Fitzgerald Stone"), and I edited like crazy when I put stuff and junk back in. I love the soft gray-green color and Glen is so proud of me, only ONE nail hole!

We had to restock 3 times in our first month at Monticello Antique Marketplace! We sold large chairs and tall lamps and several of Glen's electrified concoctions, including six lanterns! the garden show is on until May 31st, so if you haven't been, you'll want to shop there. Here's how the spot looked a few days ago, but we've been told we need to get back there already

Yesterday we brought a truckload of furniture to the shop and 3 of the pieces sold before I got photos! WOW! So, today is a stay-in "snow day", so I can clean up the craft room and put away the stock for the August window that I've accumulated. Hard to think about a late Summer window in the middle of this Winter Wonderland.!

Here are 3 new primitives and a darling child's desk with schoolhouse stencils.

Found an awesome use for the French-Style bottle dryer. My one at home holds coffee mugs.

And the piece de resistance, my Belgian-style Santos. She brings me peaceful feelings every time I look her way. (Yes, I have one at home.)

We took down the "general store" front window and went back to neutrals in our spot. I was happy to have some littles in there and it was great to get the shelving back and the crates up on the ladder top again.

So much junk, so little room....Check out sweet Lindsea's blog to see what happened to the poor chair!

Due to time constraints, the lovely chair is still languishing in Milwaukie and will most likely be re-donated. I will NEVER go junking with Lindsea again unless we take a really big truck!
There will be before and after pictures soon of some of our more needy finds.

My wonderful and talented Glen decided to put a wood floor in the TV (family) part of the great room and ...WOW!...

So...guess who had to redecorate! These little tufted chairs came from the GW Outlet (bins)

We stacked the bookcase Glen made on top of the deco sideboard. It's massive!

Our cowhide from IKEA is branded with our initials. Glen named her Lucy.

Out with the old brown sofa and in with a new one with washable slipcovers!

Glen and I each have a TV watching chair by the hearth. Mine is an upholstered zebra rocker, and his is a Mission style leather recliner.

I wanted a Santos and couldn't find an affordable one, so got a dressmaker form and gave her a crown.
Her backdrop is the genuine Navajo rug I found at a barn sale for $4.00!!!!

The dogs had a bath and each got her own down pillow by the fire. The cat took over the sofa, of course.

It is so cozy in here! I plan to edit a little and add cream colored drapes. Any suggestions?

We couldn't make it to Spokane for Farm Chicks, so went a-junkin' in PDX and found some great deals!

My favorite is this stove board. I didn't know what it was the first time I saw it, then went home and researched and found a few for $150 and up, so went back for it right away! Yea! It was waiting for me. Rusty tin designs on one side and wood with a label on the other. Not sure which side to display first!

What a fabulous day of junking!

We began at a rarely visited haunt and found amazing lamp parts and,(be still my heart), a 1920's Pendleton blanket. I made a ridiculous offer and SHE SAID YES. I found the perfect spot for it when I got home.

Next, we found a vintage sconce at another place and A SOLID WOODEN WIGMAKERS STAND.

It has a deliciously rusty clamp on the bottom!

We started home, but I pulled over at a pile of junk on the curb, made inquiries, and we were invited to pick a hidden basement....AND BOUGHT AN ENTIRE BOX OF VINTAGE CHANDELIERS!

We unloaded at home and Glen hung the chandeliers and went in to order parts.

and THEN HE MADE THIS AMAZING LAMP FROM THE BASE AND PIECES WE FOUND AT THE FIRST STORE.

We picked up a few other vintage rusties along the way for our spot at Camas Antiques.

Wow, we did GREAT at the Camas Plant Fair! What seemed to be an out-of-the-way spot was actually wonderful.
Sold almost all of the birdhouses and feeders and here are a few at Camas Antiques, now.

Have to admit, my little spot needs a theme. Though we've done well, it's a bit of a mish-mash with only 3 shelves to really work with. SO.....stay tuned for a transformation soon.

The last 6 weeks have been dedicated to kidney stones and surgery, AND, on a Vicodin cloud, I decided to redo some of my decor; sort of "vintage loft" for the great room:

It started with these wonderful metal and glass tables with burled walnut bowls on the bottom which we found in the dusty basement of an antique shop in the Gorge on the way to get huckleberries.

Four nights in Paradise!

We had lunch with Shane and Emily at the Seattle waterfront and looked at antiques.
Drove past other vacationing (goose) families to Deception Pass,
where we camped and watched the Sunset.
Then 2 wonderful days at the Hotel in Roche Harbor where we ate, shopped and watched the Orca whales. Here's a view from the deck of our room.

We also antiqued in LaConner and brought new items for Saturday's Sale. This is Laura and her wonderful Moon Rose!

This all wood storage bench has just a few rubbed spots where the poppy red-orange peeks through.
And what a sweet vanity! Redone in my now "famous" 5 step process, dressed with $12 each crystal "vine" hardware from Anthropologie, and the drawers are lined with ivory burlap!

What a wonderful old chest. The back says "Dull Ash". The veneer on the sides was too far gone to repair, so Glen painted them satin black.

We cleaned this bed up and upholstered the headboard in burlap. Sooo French, the style, Yes?

Just got this rustic primitive bookcase and there will be more pictures posted tomorrow! We've been busy!
My first attempt at painting, antiquing and distressing.
This is an American primitive dough bowl, over 53" long. Common in Europe but rarely made in the USA.
Some call it a crawdad trap, I call it art!
We took an old rocker with broken cane and repaired it with upholstery webbing.

This wonderful eastlake mirror is over 100 years old!

I am SUCH a tardy blogger! Was reuniting with my husband, and during the move my stuff was intransit and unplugged! I'll catch up quickly. Last month, Julie and I trekked back to Carson and collected more treasures.

Then, the fabulous but rainy WHIMSICAL WISHES SHOW! Here are some pics of my booth!

Glen is helping me here with one of our "famous" deconstucted pieces. This is a loveseat, before and after.

Also, Glen and I camped the first weekend in May at Swift Creek Reservoir. It was beautiful with the exception of a squall Saturday night, and as you can see, the roads within a mile of camp were either snowbound or covered in debris.

This is a new friend, Sandy, from the next camp.

Here a few recent pieces I picked up to stage a vacant rental....

It's no secret I love Rustic, Primitive, Vintage and French furniture and things.
Therefore, I need to become more serious regarding regular income, as my monetary "cushion" has dwindled. This is due to repeated forays to thrift shops and barn and estate sales.
(My fascination with CraigsList is also not helping.)

I love the simplicity and enforced organization of living in my tiny one room studio in the historic Farrell Building in downtown Camas. After hours of arranging items in virtual rooms, I managed to carve out an entryway, work space and living/sleeping room. Let me know what you think....

Today was my first day at the Saltbox Sampler in Downtown Camas, WA. I sold 6 items!The store is a wonderland of Antiques and Primitives! We're on 4th across from the Camas Hotel, and we're open 6 days a week, Mondays through Saturdays. I work Mondays and Tuesdays, so come see me. Here are some pics of my spot!

I wanted a cabin, so Glen created a "lodge room" for me. This is our first Christmas since the remodel! It was magical in there last night after the tree was up. It looked like this when we started.

to grandmother's house we go. Was thinking today how MY HOUSE is now Grandmother's. Though it's nostalgic to realize the magic of the Holidays was different for us as small children, (and much less work), it's also exciting to be creating magic for the little ones. And moments of humor can make the chores easier. Our Abyssinian, Cruiser, helped make the tablecloth for Thanksgiving last year. He would run and jump on one end and slide with the cloth all the way down, taking it with him off the other end. Here he is in mid-slide and helping cut for hemming. Blessings to all!

Glen wired a Coleman lantern to replicate the original and very collectible 1953 Holiday one, in green and red, and we've sold 8 lamps and lanterns this week. He's also repaired more than a dozen. Now that it's dark so early, we're proud to help our customers "light up the night"!

Glen and I stayed at Sunriver Resort for our anniversary last weekend. No snow, but wonderful sunshine and the beauty of the Ponderosa pines. Here's a picture we took at the High Desert Museum, one of our favorite places.

We opened early today to meet with the BYG ladies, who brought us new signs and rustic birdhouses. These seem to fly out the door. Best of all, they brought fresh greens from their folks' place to make the store more festive!!! Thanks for checking in to my new blog. Currently my husband and I own and run a consignment furniture and antique store and a lamp repair shop in Camas, WA. With mixed feelings, we will be taking our business home next March, 2009.

NEWS!!!

Cottage Consignments, Inc. will become “COTTAGE LIGHTS” at the end of February 2009, combining the lamp repair store with furniture, gifts and décor.

We are moving “Let There Be Light”, the lamp/lantern wiring and repair shop to our home on Prune Hill in Camas, open weekends and by appointment.

As Cottage Lights, we’ll also be having Seasonal Sales of furniture, gifts and décor there on Ivy St.; Winter, Spring, Summer (Flea Market) and Fall, dates to be forthcoming. (Be sure you’re on our email list!)

Recent consignments need to be picked up no later than February 20th, 2009.
We won’t be taking new consignments after November 20, 2008.

If you have ANYTHING that’s been here more than 90 days, it WILL be donated per the original agreement. Please check your agreements for your pick up dates.
